Cheviot Sheep
Cheviot fleece, like Tunis and California Red, can successfully be blended with almost any other fleece to give a “bounce” to the resulting mixture. Many times weavers, spinners and knitters want the long, smooth texture and strength of unmixed Border Leicester or Romney. But adding a crimpier, “fluffier” fiber can result in a yarn or roving that has an expanded range of uses. Cheviots are easy keeping sheep, and having a few on the farm adds a potential for variety in my products, without adding any additional work or worries with the sheep.
